If you’re looking for an entry level juicer, look no further than the Philips HR1851. This attractive juicer from Philips comes in white plastic and has a powerful 500W motor. Fully endorced by the “Juicer Master”, Jason Vale, the unit comes with one of his books. It has a pulp container with a capacity of 1.5litres and all parts are dishwasher safe.
You might wonder what this doesn’t have that its big brother, the Philips HR1861, has. This unit is less powerful and has a smaller feeding tube so you need to cut the fruit first. Affordable, attractive and easy to use. If you want to dip your toe in juicing, this is a great place to start.

Macrobiotics.co.uk has a great article by Scott Ohlgren detailing the benefits of juicing. The article says:
Juicing’s biggest health benefit can be summarized in one phrase: cellular cleansing.
Bar none, cellular cleansing is the single biggest reason for why I have stayed drug free, pain free, and symptom free for the past 29 years.

In the same way that that Champion 2000+ has ruled the roost in mastication juicing since the mid 50s, the Santos Classic citrus juicer has been one of the most popular centrifugal juicers since its creation by Santos in France over 50 years ago.
This citrus juicer with its iconic design has been creating top quality juice in french bistros, cafes and restaurants for over half a century, so if you’re looking for a juicer that’s built to last and will help give your kitchen a cafe style ambience, look no further than the Santos Classic Juicer.
You might have actually seen this juicer before. Cast you mind back to the last series of the Apprentice, and the contestants were sent around Marrakech looking to procure a list of items, and the Santos classic juicer was on the list.
The design of the unit is tough and durable, with an aluminium alloy base an an unbreakable sanitary polycarbonate bowl. Usage is simple: just half your citrus fruit and press it into the reamer. You can expect 20 litres of juice from an hour’s juicing.
The Santos Classic is a fantastic juicer for the serious home juicer, or also commercial enterprises such as a hotel, cafe, etc.

Here’s a cool little video which shows the guys from Channel 5’s popular Gadget Show taking a look at three juicers, testing them all making orange juice.
Their favourite juicer was the Champion 2000+ Masticating Juicer, which they said gave the best tasting juice. Because it chews up the fruit, more of the nutrients and tastiness stays in the juice itself.

Champion Juicers have been manufactured by a family firm called Plastaket since the mid 1950s. The California based company are still going strong because the Champion series has long been recognised as some of the best juicers available. They use a mastication process which chews up the fruit and vegetables, which means your juice is more flavoursome and retains the fibre, enzymes, vitamins and trace minerals.
The Champion 2000+ Juicer is renowned for its reliability. This durable piece of kit will just keep on juicing and has one many awards including being named as ‘Best Luxury Buy’ in The Independent Newspaper’s Top 10 Juicers Review.
It comes with a 10 year limited warranty, and is so powerful that it’s even suitable for commercial usage. The Champion 2000+ Masticating Juicer is fully recommended by Juicer.co.uk

We thought we would kick proceedings off with a look at what has long been Amazon’s best selling fruit juicer - the Philips HR1861 Pro Aluminium Juicer.
First thing to notice is that is has an extra large feeding tube, so if you want to stick a few whole apples or pears down there, then you can. Believe me, not having to mess about chopping your fruit before putting it down makes the process easier and more convenient. The anodised aluminium gives the unit a very solid feel, and you get the sense it’s well constructed, and the rubber feet means it doesn’t jump about when you’re in on a heavy pulping session. Look under the bonnet, and you will find a 700w motor which has two speeds of operation.
The machine is dead simple to use and the jug holds a generous 1.5 litre juice. It’s not the cheapest - weighing in at almost £80 at the time writing - but if you’re after a quality juicer, then you won’t go wrong with the Philips HR1861 Pro Aluminium Juicer.
It’s also worth noting then when you purchase this juicer, you get a free box with loads of very good recipies for juices and smoothies.
